Pony Korean BBQ in Montreal: A True Taste of Korea

2–3 minutes

Restaurant Name: Pony Korean BBQ (Pony BBQ Coréen)

Address: 1608 Saint-Catherine St W, Montreal, Quebec H3H 2S7 Canada

This early summer, my family and I decided to try something new and headed to Pony Korean BBQ (Pony BBQ Coréen) in Montreal. Pony opened its doors in late October 2023 and has quickly become a favorite among Korean BBQ fans for its high-quality cuts of meat and authentic Korean dining experience.

The Ambience: Pony transports you straight into the lively streets of South Korea with its electric ambiance, vibrant neon signs, and playful decor. From the moment we walked in, we were surrounded by eclectic colors, neon lights, and an energy that made us feel like we had stepped into downtown Seoul!

What We Ate: We went with the Party for 4 combo meal, which was perfect for our group. It included pork belly, soy-marinated pork shoulders, LA galbi, and more. We also had the option of two delicious soups: the spicy budae jjigae, loaded with ramen noodles, kimchi, spam, and veggies, or the classic kimchi jjigae. My personal favorite was the fried dumplings and the flavorful puffed egg with cheese—they were absolutely delicious!

Tip: If you’re visiting with a group, try the Party for 4 combo! It gives you a taste of all the best offerings, and you can always order extras like we did—extra pork and beef slices paired with kimchi fried rice.

One of the best parts of the experience is that you get to cook your meal. At our table, we had a grill set up in the center, and after grilling our meats, we moved on to the hotpot filled with a rich broth where we simmered ramen and vegetables. It’s a hands-on experience that adds to the fun of dining at Pony.

Pony also has a signature cocktail and mocktail menu, so if you’re looking for a drink to complement the meal, there are plenty of choices. You can also try their soju, a traditional Korean spirit, but they also offer natural wines, sake, and beer.

What I Love Most: Pony Korean BBQ isn’t just about the food. The restaurant’s atmosphere, with every element imported directly from South Korea, makes it feel like you’ve been whisked away to another place. The neon lights, funky signs, and SoKor vibes give it a lively feel, perfect for a fun night out.

Overall, here’s my rating for this experience:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

If you’re a fan of Korean BBQ or just looking for a new dining adventure in Montreal, Pony Korean BBQ is a must-visit spot!
